This is a neat browser-based program that adds any color shade to a Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPG/JPEG) picture. As soon as you paste your JPG/JPEG file in the input area, the program will create a new JPG/JPEG with the specified color shade in the output area. You can set any color for the shade in the options and see a live preview of the new JPG/JPEG in the output window before downloading it. Created by mad scientists from team Browserling.

This online program adds any color shade to JPG, JPEG, and JPEG2000 pictures and photos. It re-colors pictures with one single color, which expresses objects and picture details using shadows and brighter and darker pixels. It's similar to the convert JPG/JPEG to grayscale utility that leaves only grayscale shades in the picture, however here the color shade can be based on any color (yellow, blue, red, green, and so on). Another example of a single-shade image is the sepia effect, where the base color for the picture is #704214 (hex code of sepia color). The base color for the new JPG/JPEG can be set in the "Base Color Shade" option. Technically, this program works as follows. Each RGB color is expressed using the HSL color model, where H is hue (defines the color itself), S is saturation (defines how much color there is), L is lightness (defines how much white light there is). To convert a JPG into one shade, the tool changes the old H and S values to the new ones (that are found by converting the specified new color in the options) but the component L that conveys the darkness and lightness of pixels remains unchanged. Jpgabulous!

This example uses the color tone changer algorithm to replace the color of the keyboard backlight. It sets the new tone of the JPG to "darkviolet" and turns the original blue pixels to darkviolet pixels. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we create a grayscale JPEG by overlaying a gray shade over the base image. As the shade is set to "gray" (and also the same applies for "black" and "white"), the component "H" in "HSL" is absent and therefore the resulting picture becomes gray without any color. (Source: Pexels.)
In this example, we add a blue tint to a JPG/JPEG photo of white water droplets. As the "Lightness" parameter doesn't change, the shape and volume of the drops are conveyed via "Hue" and "Saturation" parameters, and after changing the tint, the drops acquire a beautiful dodgerblue color. We're Browserling — a friendly and fun cross-browser testing company powered by alien technology. At Browserling we love to make people's lives easier, so we created this collection of online JPG tools. Our tools have the simplest possible user interface that is focused on getting things done. People love our tools and they are now used by millions of people every month. Our JPG tools are actually powered by our web developer tools that we created over the last couple of years.
